Israel to resume fuel supply to Gaza

International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, 15 Apr 2008

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Monday that the fuel supply to Gaza’s main power plant will restart on Wednesday.

Israel stopped providing the gas last Wednesday after two Israelis working at the Nahal Oz gas terminal were shot dead by Palestinian terrorists.

Barak’s order covers fuel for the power plant and for cooking needs, but Israel is yet not providing gas for transportation, said defense officials.

In the meantime, four Palestinian universities in Gaza were reportedly closed due to a lack of gas supplies.
