Israel protests Iranian and Syrian UNHRC bids

ICEJ, 12 July 2013

Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor said on Thursday that a proposal to add Syria and Iran to the United Nations Human Rights Council is "like placing a mob boss in charge of the witness protection program," adding that, for the UN, this was "a new Guinness Record." ."

untries that murder and torture their own people must not be allowed to become the world’s judges on human rights," agreed UN Watch chief Hillel Neuer.

"Syria is certainly less popular now, but Iran currently heads the largest UN voting bloc, the non-aligned movement.

We need to fight these candidacies."

In related news, a new report by the US Air Force’s National Air and Space Intelligence Center includes data showing that Iran is on track to deploy intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of being armed with nuclear weapons.

The report says that all of Europe and the East Coast of the US will be within range of Iranian missiles by 2015.
